Making my pattern

Went to my friends house who has decades of sewing experience and started working on pattern making. Using myself for fitting and sizing, we made our first pattern. But the fabric I baught for lining didn't turn out as good as I hoped, but it opened a new product opportunity. So back to the drawing board in finding the right fabric for lining for my main product.

2 days later, I'm still looking for this specific quilted fabric. It's a lot harder than I thought, but that's not going stop me!

While I am still searching for fabric, I'm still doing other things like networking. Finding resources and connections that will help me when I start production.

Even though my project is taking longer than expected and discovering new obsticles... I'm still pretty excited about my idea.

After I complete my prototypes (soon I hope), i'm thinking about holding a fund raiser to build up some capital for purchasing a big roll of fabrics to start a first wave of my production line. The fundraiser will be the reveal and prelaunch of my special unique line. Hope all goes well...

After months of research...

Almost a year has passed doing research, I decided to go the next step.

I found a US based fabric manufacturer to buy most of my materials and contacted them for price quotes.

Got a unique brand name that is available for trademark.

And now, purchased fabrics to make my prototypes.

Once I make my prototypes and purchase my trademark, I will purchase a business lisence.

Since all this is taking so long due to a shoestring budget, my products won't be ready till 2012.

Starting a clothing line idea

For many years I have thought of starting a business and I personally thought my ideas were great, but a few problems arose.

First problem was lack of capital. A lot of... actually, ALL of my ideas required a ridiculous amount of money. One idea was to create a drag strip for race enthusiast` but that required at least $300k. So, moving on to the next idea.

After so many ideas, I finally realized an everyday problem I have been dealing. I took my idea to the internet and did a month of research. I searched far and wide to see if there were similar products to my idea. Only catching 2 products that is the closest to my idea, were lacking many different qualities that I will soon provide.

1st step: Find an idea that can solve a problem.
2nd step: Research that market and see if there is competition.
